Student Accommodation

Optimal study conditionsThe public education sector in Namibia is facing serious challenges in the provision of student accommodation. Currently many students are housed in sub-optimal structures, ranging from overcrowded rooms to garages and even make-shift structures without water and electricity. They travel to Uni by taxi or by foot, which is not always safe, especially not when it is dark.
It is imperative that students enrolled at all tertiary education institutions get a fair chance to excel and obtain a degree. Students need to be able to focus on their studies and not be distracted by sub-optimal living conditions, too much noise, no light, and lack of basic facilities. As a nation, we would want our youngsters to perform well at University. Armed with a degree they will help drive the economy to higher performance and diversification. Tertiary education is expensive - for parents, caretakers, providers of grants and the Government of Namibia, which through the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund sets aside a considerable portion of the budget. All these resources must make an impact on Namibia's future. Lay-outEach floor houses 12 students who share a sizable kitchen with balcony, and a bathroom with 3 toilets, 3 showers, and 3 washing basins. A floor will either be for female or male students.
